Creating Old Maps with New Technology

Overlays in Google Earth form the basis for future hand-painted maps

Some of you know I am involved with a book project called Buttons and Beads-- a work of historical fiction set in 18th century America. As part of my illustration duties I must create a set of old-fashioned maps reflecting that era. I have been using Google Earth for the first rough drafts of these maps.
