Address Is Approximate

This is cool, something Google Maps posted to Google Plus. It is stop motion animation made using Google Maps Street View (one of the resources also used within SketchUp to help texture building fronts realistically as in the models seen here, here, and here-- made by me).

Address Is Approximate is the title and it was made by Tom Jenkins. It's beautifully done. Check it out!

Chadwick Stokes

Here's a catchy tune and beautiful video for you to enjoy. The singer is Chadwick Stokes.

I've been trying to figure out how they did it-- computer graphics or actual paper cut outs? The rain appears to be Reynolds plastic wrap stretched between two rods.

I don't know if SketchUp was used (probably not) however I was thinking it could totally be do-able. Moving objects within scenes and re-positioning the camera-- and then compiling and animating it within Picasa. If I get ambitious maybe I'll make an alternate version of this video.

Any takers with lots of time on their hands? How would you remake this? I don't expect anyone to actually do it but if you dare-- submit and I'll post. Maybe try just a short part of it? Anyone crazy enough....? Maybe the Google SketchUp team can do this as their 20% project ;-)

EDIT: Here is a music video made entirely in SketchUp by "Torch."

Google Geo Users Summit in Barcelona

For those like myself who were unable to attend the 2011 EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) Google Geo Users Summit in Barcelona this October, check out the highlights video above!

Or if you've been to the conference and want to relive good times check it out too. Have a half hour? Watch Aidan Chopra's entertaining keynote address about UGC (user-generated content) here.

The summit brought together users of geo-related Google products SketchUp, Building Maker, Panoramio, and Map Maker for a few days of meeting, eating, drinking, playing, and learning.

Read Lat-Long blog's recap here.

And lastly check out these beautiful Panoramio photos of Barcelona and the event here!
